Last month’s events in Bryson had something for everyone — and residents were very appreciative!

Highlights included a Lunar New Year celebration early in February, with residents enjoying drinks and traditional Chinese food. Kids got crafty drawing their name in Chinese symbols and making lanterns and dancing dragons. They also received traditional red envelopes filled with money and symbolized good luck for the upcoming year.

Dads had an afternoon just for them Feb. 16, getting to know each other, playing games and enjoying Canes chicken. Another chance for residents to meet was an event at The Backyard for National Margarita Day. We served up margaritas and tacos from Isma’s Taco Truck. There was also music and lawn games.

Resident Adan Rodriguez especially enjoyed the evening.

"I appreciate the balance of events,” he said. “I don't have kids and I enjoy days like these. All the families with and without children are having a great time." 

The Mardi Gras Meet-Up was our biggest event in February, and residents really got into the “let the good times roll” vibe. We had a jazz band, Hurricanes and king cake. Kids made Mardi Gras masks and hopped in the bounce house. A food truck offered lobster rolls and Cajun-inspired treat eats. It was definitely a fun-for-all evening.

Resident Aparna Nath made sure to thank Director of Fun Becca Schaefer for her efforts to make the Mardi Gras Meet-Up a success.

"I just wanted to thank you and I appreciate the hard work behind the Mardi Gras event yesterday,” she said. “My family and I had great fun and enjoyed ourselves."

The good times continued to roll into March with one of our biggest annual events — the Bryson Rodeo, which brought animals, a train, rodeo clowns and more into the community!
