Discover Leander

Bryson is located in Leander, one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation. What’s the attraction? The low cost of living for starters, but this small town delivers so much more. Thinking of moving to Leander? Here’s what you need to know:

Leander is Family Friendly

Niche.com recently rated Leander among the top 10 best Austin suburbs for raising a family. That’s not surprising. Leander’s small-town atmosphere, numerous local festivals, parks and proximity to Austin offers families plenty of opportunities to develop friendships, have fun and make lasting memories.

Leander Schools Get an A

Leander ISD has some Texas’ top educators, ranking No. 12 out of 1,031 on Niche’s list of “Districts With the Best Teachers in Texas.” Young Bryson residents are served by Jim Plain Elementary School, the new Danielson Middle School and Tom Glenn High School.

Leander Encourages Families to Get Outside

Parks abound in Leander and they are huge. Benbrook Ranch Park offers 47 acres of soccer fields, soccer fields, pavilions, a disc golf course, a skate park, playscape, hiking-and-biking trails and a BMX track. Devine Lake Regional Park spans 46 acres, including a 25-acre lake, pavilion and wooded picnic area, playscape, off-leash pet area, hike-and-bike trails and places to fish. See the list of Leander Parks.

Leander Has Trains

Leander was founded in 1882 on land sold by the Austin and Northwestern Railroad Co., a history it celebrates with the Leander Trail of Trains. The 680-pound colorfully painted concrete trains can be found throughout the city.

Leander Has Dinosaur Tracks

Dinosaurs? Yep. The geology and weather in the area has helped preserve a number of fossils, including a set of dinosaur tracks possibly made by an Acrocanthosaurus. The tracks are on private land, but the City of Leander began work on reconstructing a set of prints in the Old Town Leander Park for public viewing this year. Leander is also the site of “Leanderthal Lady” a 10,000- to 13,000-year-old skeleton found in 1983.

Leander’s Old Town is a Great Place to Hang

Historic Old Town Leander is more than a place to browse for antiques. It’s a great place to spend the day. Love unique clothing? Look no further than Wildfire Artisans airstream trailer. Patchouli Joe’s book shop is locally owned and awash in books, candles, art prints and more. Take a break from shopping to indulge at Casa Costa Bake Shop. If you find yourself in Old Town at night, make sure to stop off at Smooth Village for live music.

Leander Knows Golf

Love golf? Then you will love Chrystal Falls Golf Club, an 18-hole public course, perfect for challenging individuals of all skill levels.

Leander is Close to Everything

Day trips are easy when you live in Leander. The fabulous Inner Space Cavern is 10 miles away. Water activities on Lake Travis are less than 11 miles away. Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge, Pedernales Falls State Park and Longhorn Cavern State Park should also make your to-do list.
