The district operates 45 schools and educates more than 40,000 students each year. Ranking and review site Niche.com rates Leander ISD No. 21 out of 1,032 districts on its 2021 list of Best School Districts in Texas. The site also ranks it No. 21 for Best Teachers in Texas, No. 2 for Best Places to Teach in the Austin area and No. 3 for Best District for Athletes in the Austin area.
According to the Texas Education Agency (TEA), the district maintained a 95 percent overall score based on performance on state standardized tests; graduation rates; and college, career, and military readiness outcomes in 2019, the last year the agency reported ratings.
Equally impressive, more than 1,300 high school students in the district take dual credit courses through the district’s partnership with Austin Community College’s San Gabriel campus.
Bryson students attend Plain Elementary, Danielson Middle School and Glenn High School. Plain Elementary students benefit from a strong curriculum and excellent teachers. Danielson Middle School opened last year and specializes in interactive, collaborative learning with flexible and outdoor classrooms.
Glenn High School is an innovative campus. Resembling a small college campus, the school features high ceilings, large windows and natural light throughout the building. The library has a “maker space” with a 3D printer available to all students. In addition to classrooms for regular instruction, the school boasts dedicated spaces for culinary arts, agriculture and fine arts classes.
Opening in 2022 will be a new elementary school located right here in Bryson. That means our youngest residents will be able to walk or bike to school. We can’t wait to see it.
