A Terrific Start to 2023!

Feb 24, 2023 12:16:42 PM / by The Bryson Blogster

Bryson residents got their 2023 off to a terrific start with a bevy of activities meant to pave the way for a good year. Here’s a recap:

Plunging into 2023

Continuing a tradition that began nearly 120 years ago in South Boston, Bryson residents braved January’s chilly temperatures to take the Polar Plunge challenge at The Backyard pool. They leaped into the frigid waters and were rewarded with a Bryson Polar Plunge sweatshirt, which many of them donned immediately!

Hello to a New Year

Our Director of Fun had several events designed to help residents live even better lives in 2023. The New Year New Me Social Media Challenge invited residents to post photos on social media of how they were eating better, exercising more or other self-care activities, with each photo being a raffle ticket for a giveaway.

The Fire Cleansing and S’mores Night had residents gathering around the fire pit at The Backyard for s’mores and hot cocoa. After the treats, they wrote down what they wanted to bid adieu to in 2023 and threw the pieces of paper into the fire.

Fire cleansing is an age-old tradition that I decided to bring to Bryson,” said Director of Fun Becca. “Fire can be used to enhance your spiritual practice or support you by helping you purify and set intentions in your own life. Many personal fire rituals are based on the ancient ceremonies handed down through the ages, in all cultures.”

A Visit from a Princess

It’s not every day a famous princess visits Bryson, but when she does, it’s always a good time! Elsa stopped by The Backyard in January to read stories, play games, take photos and host a sing-a-long and dance party with young fans — many adorned in their own princess attire. Adding to the fun of the Snowflakes & Storytime event were crafts such as making a snowflake picture frame, coloring and braiding bead snowflake ornaments. Young guests snacked on “frozen” trail mix, blue Jello “ice cubes,” snowflake cupcakes, melted snowmen (water) and “Glacier Juice” (blue Kool Aid).

And there’s even more fun going on this month — check it out!
