Becca Shaefer has a love of community and service, both ideal for her role as Bryson’s new Director of Fun.

Becca didn’t fall into the role of lifestyle director. Rather, it’s a position she purposefully sought out, inspired by her childhood growing up in another Johnson Development community — Sienna in Missouri City.

“My parents and I would go to all of the events,” she said. “I would meet friends, hang out — I just loved it.”

Becca even took a position with the Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas after graduating from Texas State University to further hone her event-planning skills.

“I want to excel, making Bryson a fun, invigorating place to live,” she said. “I believe in the ‘small town in a big city’ ideal that is so prevalent in Bryson and want to do all I can to support that.”

Becca also has a passion for philanthropy — something that has been in her family for generations.

“My grandmother always encouraged me to give back to the community and to help those in need,” she said.

Becca also has volunteered at local food banks, Meals on Wheels and Feeding America. She is an active volunteer at her church, as well.

Becca wants to keep Bryson’s event calendar busy and hopes to add more crafting activities to the mix.

“I attended art school for a while and love the idea of education through art,” she said. “I did some art therapy at the epilepsy foundation and saw how powerful it can be.”

Becca played tennis in her time at Texas State University and still plays when she’s able. During her off-time, she also enjoys photography, bowling, escape rooms and caring for foster cats with special needs.
